This is a continuation of the project I almost love you departing from a constructed stylized fictive masked character that like a moderator leads the audience through the performance demonstrating the artificiality of her world of relations and emotions; departing from a research about surfaces within personal relationships within society; and departing from a specific scene: The blood scene. (See image) a scene, which researches illustrations and abstract depictions of violence.
Within this project I aim to research physical violence and destruction; furthermore the mechanisms of abstracting violent actions through achievements of technology like for example in war situations, physical violence that begins excluding direct physical contact, so violence through virtuality (meta violence) violence without object.
I am interested in putting the fake/the artificial in relation to the real. As an example to put fake blood (constructed blood) in relation to real blood (natural blood). I would like the real blood to camouflage into the world of the fake, into world of the representation/the world of the imagination; to deprive the natural of its “realness”; to make the natural appear fake instead of the fake real.
Fanni Futterknecht creates performances for a stage context and works with video. Born in Vienna she has been studying visual art at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna followed by a Masters study in visual Art at the Piet Zwart Institute in Rotterdam. Her work began with video installations and evolved from performative interventions in public space to performances that are constructed for a theatre context.
She is curious in exploring the borders between the context of performing arts and the context of fine art.
